Introduction to Inorganic Chemistry
If organic chemistry is defined as the chemistry of hydrocarbon compounds and their derivatives, inorganic chemistry can be broadly defined as the chemistry of "everything". This includes all the other elements on the periodic table, as well as carbon, which plays a large and increasing role in inorganic chemistry. The large field of metal–organic chemistry combines both fields by considering compounds containing metal–carbon bonds; it also involves the catalysis of many organic reactions.
